1. Dhirubhai Ambani IICT, Gandhinagar is ahead of Nirma Institute of Technology, Ahmedabad!
2. Dharmsinh Desai Institute of Technology, Nadiad is ranked at 95 but L D Engineering of Ahmedabad is not there in the list!

boss, da-iict is always ahead of nirma….
da-iict has much better students, faculty and standards than nirma….
da-iict is known to everyone in india….but no one knows about nirma outside gujarat….

Nirma has good enough reputation in industry outside Gujarat also. You can compare placement history of both the colleges.

da iict is anytime better than nirma they have a better faculty and a good student selection procedure nirma has better placement history because da iict is comparatively new

Let me provide a detailed comparision of both the institutes taking into consideration various
important aspects:
faculty:

70% of the faculty in da-iict are from IIT Kanpur, Kharagpur, bombay and delhi.
the remaining 30 % includes highly experienced faculty from esteemed institutes like
NIT trichy, BITS pilani, IIIT hyderabad…..you can also find 3 faculty members
from the world’s best institutes like stanford, UC-berkeley and 2 members from NASA….
coming to the case of nirma, most of the faculty members are local gujarati’s from
local institute’s like GEC, gujarati vidya peeth….etc…
board of governers of da-iict include :
Anil Ambani, Sam pitroda (father of indian communications), chairperson of mindtree consulting etc
do you have such an esteemed governing board for nirma…
the directors of da-iict so far :
Arvind kudchadkar (former director - IIT bombay),
sahasrabudhe (former director IIT bombay, former Chief technical officer (CTO) -Global telecommunications Limited)
once just compare them with the directors of nirma….

both the institutes admit students through AIEEE exam…
let me provide the stats of last year admission process from both the institutes..
da-iict : opening AIEEE all india rank - 257
closing AIEEE all india rank - 8240
nirma : opening AIEEE all india rank - 6876
closing AIEEE all india rank - 57994
this itself proves that student quality in da-iict is 50 fold better than that of nirma….
this also shows that da-iict is a much more preferred institute that nirma….
this also shows that both the institues are incomparable…
i am from tamil nadu…da-iict carries a very good brand image in the south..
especially in the states of andhra and tamil nadu…that there emerged new traning institutes that
gave special training for da-iict entrance test (this was when da-iict is not included in AIEEE).
no one there even knew that some institute named nirma exists in india…
infrastructure:

da-iict boasts of one of the most hi-tech and modern campuses in india…
air-conditioned lecture halls, tutorial rooms and conference halls, 24 hr labs, 18 hr library facility…
separate LAN facility provided to all the rooms in the hostel…
the resources (in labs) to students are in the ratio of 1:1. (in nirma it’s much less)
da-iict has 100 Mbps LAN with 5 Mbps reserved for internet connectivity in hostel, labs, library etc….
da-iict also plans to have a 5 Mbps wireless LAN by the end of Feb - 2007.
very few institutes(excluding IIT’s) in india have such a great connectivity…
(nirma is far behind in this aspect)
every da-iict’ian is provided with smart card which they use it for various activities ….
from important activities like registering the attendance, authentication for LABs and library to
various transastions in book store, canteen etc….
(no such facility in nirma)…

TI visits only 16 institutes in india in which da-iict is one of them…
CDG (Usability and use interface group) visited only 4 institutes in india - IITb,IITG,NID and IITB
it was surprising to hear that many nirma guys dont even know what TI and STM are….more
surprising is that few of them were comparing placement in TI with a placment in
TCS and infosys….
Sun microsystems and oracle conducted indirect recruitments to the students of da-iict by first
offering them internships and then recruiting them…they offered the following packages
sun- 4.2
oracle - 5.5
2 da-iict students were recruited into microsoft for a package of 6.9 lacs through off campus placements
in contrast, the companies that offered highest packages to nirma guys are
motorola - 3.85
nokia software - around 3.2
with most of the students in nirma settling down for pretty ordinary placements in
companies like TCS, infosys, CTS etc …which visit each and every bull shit engineering college
at every nook and corner of the country…
i don’t know how the author was asking to compare the placement history of both the colleges….
In addition to the above mentioned companies,
others like
yahoo, IBM and microsoft have shown interest to visit da-iict in the second round of placments in January..
with yahoo and IBM confirming the visit..
i dont think any institute will have such a good placement record with only 2 batches passing out so far.

Amit, there is no question about Nirma’s creditability! It is Gujarat’s No.1 college and one of the fastest runner of Top 100 Eng college in India! You can see Nirma’s campus placements record….

1291 in guj state is good… but i guess you may need some luck as well to get into Nirma… you may consider DDIT as well… DDIT is also a good college in Gujarat… btw in which eng. line you want to take admission?

among IIT-B and IIT-D, i would prefer IIT-B.. but its all my personal view! to your second question, NIT WARANGAL is a good college… you can consider it as well…

Kudos to Kiran, NIT Surat. Man, you summed up the college pretty well :)…I will keep the Nirma vs DA issue out coz nirma guys would need some time to heel their inflated egos of last 14 years. Coming to NIT vs DA…a lot depends upon ur priorities…I suggest take a personal visit to the best NIT you r getting, talk to the students thr nd take ur call..u will get ur answer

I got 90% in 10th and aggregate 92% in PCM in gujarat. Will i b albe to make it to Nirma through the 15% quota?? My air in EEE ws 58k.

Your score is good, but Nirma EC looks tough. CE is also a good option, and if you take my personal opinion, I would say CE is a good choice than EC for getting job in market. So, if you are keen for Nirma, you may think for CE and based on your score you have good chance.
Now abt DDIT, it a good college and has a good name in industry after Nirma. You can check campus placement history of DDIT. No, from Ahm it is hard to do updown. My suggestion for you is to give priority to Engineering line than the location and be ready to relocate if you are getting in good branch and college.

i m n sc student of GJ.and my AIR in aieee is 62867 and SR is 1143.
i just checked out the opening and closing rank of last year in all nits.
and i found that all the other state’s except gujarat sc student’s rank were written .what does that mean?are no seats reserved 4 guj.sc students in nits like warangal and tirchy and many more?And i m getting in DAIICT and many nits.
so wat do u think would be preferable in accordance with placements?

Guarat marks 211 out of 228.
I want to get admission in Nirma EC or CE or IT or in NIT surat. Is it possible?
Moreover, where can i get counselling date of NIT surat for 50% state reservation?
